Reference
Endpoint:
melting point/freezing point
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
17-19 March 2014
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Remarks:
The study was conducted according to OECD/EU guideline, and under GLP. No deviation was reported. Test substance is adequately specified with purity. Therefore full validation applies.
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 102 (Melting point / Melting Range)
Deviations:
no
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.1 (Melting / Freezing Temperature)
Deviations:
no
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EPA OPPTS 830.7200 (Melting Point / Melting Range)
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
other: CIPAC MT 1
Principles of method if other than guideline:
Not applicable
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Remarks:
inspected on January 22 and 23, 2013 / signed on March 22, 2013
Type of method:
thermal analysis
Remarks:
differential scanning calorimetry
Key result
Melting / freezing pt.:
< -80 °C

The thermograms of the DSC runs are provided in the experimental report.

At ambient conditions, the test item is a liquid. Since no endothermic effects were observed down to a temperature of -80°C, the test item has no freezing/melting point within the investigated temperature range.

Conclusions:
No further testing required (freezing < -20°C).
Executive summary:

The freezing/melting point of the test substance was determined under GLP according to OECD 102/EU A1 guideline, by Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) method. The liquid was first cooled down to -80°C, and no endothermic effect was observed.

The test substance has no freezing/melting point down to a temperature of -80°C at atmospheric pressure.

Description of key information

No freezing point down to -80 °C.
No further testing required (< -20°C).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

A fully reliable experimental study, conducted according to a recognized OECD/EC method and under GLP, is available. It is considered as a key study. As no freezing was observed down to -80°C, the result is expressed as a limit value, and cannot be retained as key data.
