Description of key information

Waiver: hydrolysis testing is not required since 3-methylpyridine has been shown to be readily biodegradable.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

According to Regulation (EC) No.1907/2006, Annex VIII, Section 9.2.2.1, Column 2, hydrolysis testing as a function of pH does not need to be conducted if the substance is readily biodegradable. 3-Methylpyridine has been shown to be readily biodegradable in the environment, as shown by the 70% DOC removal after 8 days in the OECD Guideline 301B test conducted by Weytjens and Wils (1991).
