CHDM DGE is not a PBT substance based on the criteria set out in revised Annex XIII of REACH.

Persistence (P) Assessment:

CHDM DGE is not persistent based on the short half-life of the hydrolysis of approx. 14 days at 20°C. The products of hydrolysis are fully mineralised at a slow rate as demonstrated in the two screening tests for biodegradation in water.

Bioaccumulation (B) Assessment:

The measured log Kow of CHDM DGE is 2.29 (< 4.5). According to REACH Chapter R. 11: PBT Assessment, CHDM DGE is not bioaccumulative (B) or very bioaccumulative (vB) bioaccumulation (i.e. log Kow< 4.5). 

Toxicity (T) Assessment:

According to Annex XIII of REACH Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006, a substance is considered to be toxic in terms of PBT criteria if long-term NOEC values for aquatic organisms are lower than 0.01 mg/L.

The NOEC of long-term toxicity of CHDM-DGE to Daphnia is 11.7 mg/L and the ErC10 (rate) of the 72 hr testing with Algae is 21.4 mg/L Based on the acute toxicity data it seems reasonable to assume that the NOEC chronic for fish toxicity is in the same order of magnitude and certainly higher than 0.01 mg/L. Therefore CHDM DGE is not considered as a toxic substance regarding ecotoxicological endpoints. There are also no relevant effects that would require classification for CMR or STOT RE or further testing.
