Key value for chemical safety assessment

Fresh water invertebrates

Fresh water invertebrates
Effect concentration:
16.3 mg/L

Additional information

To evaluate the acute toxicity of 1,4-CHDM DGE, to the freshwater cladoceran, Daphnia magna, over a 48-hour exposure period with 4 replicate vessels per test level, with 5 daphnids each, exposed to nominal concentrations of 0 (water control), 6.3, 13, 25, 50, and 100 mg 1,4-CHDM DGE/L. Test solutions were analytically verified at initiation and termination by HPLC/MS.

The final results were as follows:

The 24-hour EC50 = 42.1 mg/L (95% confidence limits not calculable);

The 48-hour EC50 = 16.3 mg/L ( 95% confidence limits 14.4 – 18.3 mg/L);

The 48-hour NOEC = 11.7 mg/L;
