Description of key information
Additional information
Apperance:
On the basis of physical observation the chemical 2-Methyl-4-(2,2,3-trimethyl-3-cyclopenten-1-yl)but-2-en-1-ol was found to be colourless liquid in appearance.
Melting Point:
The melting point of the test chemical was estimated using MPBPVP. The estimated melting point of 2-Methyl-4-(2,2,3-trimethyl-3-cyclopenten-1-yl)but-2-en-1-ol is 50.10°C
Boiling Point:
The boiling point determination of 2-methyl-4-(2,2,3-trimethyl-3-cyclopenten-1-yl)-2-buten-1- ol (CAS No. 28219-60-5) was done following OECD Guideline 103 and according to the method of Siwoloboff. The test was conducted in replicates and mean boiling point was found to be 262.8°C at 978.9 hPa.
Density:
The density of test item, 2-methyl-4-(2,2,3-trimethyl-3-cyclopenten-1-yl)-2-buten-1-ol (CAS No. 28219-60-5) was determined following OECD Guideline 109 and according to the Indian standard method for determination of density of liquids [IS 4730:1994 (Reaffirmed 2010)]. The mean density of the test item was found to be 0.9151 g/cm3 at 20 deg C and 978.35 hPa.
Autoflammability:
2-methyl-4-(2,2,3-trimethylcyclopent-3-en-1-yl)but-2-en-1-ol did not catch fire on being exposed to air at room temperature of 27°Cpressure of 966 hPa. This indicates that 2-methyl-4-(2,2,3-trimethylcyclopent-3-en-1-yl)but-2-en-1-ol is not auto-flammable.
Flammability:
2-methyl-4-(2,2,3-trimethyl-3-cyclopenten-1-yl)-2-buten-1-ol does not indicate any ignition when the flame of bunsen burner having temperature of approximately 950°C is brought in contact with it. Thus it can be concluded that 2-methyl-4-(2,2,3-trimethyl-3-cyclopenten-1-yl)-2-buten-1-ol is not flammable at high temperature. However since such high temperatures are not found under normal circumstances of transportation and use, thus 2-methyl-4-(2,2,3-trimethyl-3-cyclopenten-1-yl)-2-buten-1-ol was considered non-flammable for chemical safety assessment.
Particle Size Distribution:
This end point was considered for waiver since it is not technically feasible to determine the particle size distribution for a liquid chemical. 2-methyl-4-(2,2,3-trimethyl-3-cyclopenten-1-yl)-2-buten-1-ol is a liquid chemical and hence its particle size distribution was not determined experimentally.
Vapor Pressure:
The vapor pressure of the test chemical was estimated using MPBPVP. The estimated vapour pressure of 2-Methyl-4-(2,2,3-trimethyl-3-cyclopenten-1-yl)but-2-en-1-ol was 0.00317Pa at 25°C
Partition Coefficient:
The logPow of 2-Methyl-4-(2,2,3-trimethyl-3-cyclopenten-1-yl)but-2-en-1-ol was 4.65.
Based on this value,2-Methyl-4-(2,2,3-trimethyl-3-cyclopenten-1-yl)but-2-en-1 -ol can be considered to be hydrophobic in nature.
Water Solubility:
WSKOW v1.42 of EPISUITE was used to estimate the water solubility of the test chemical. The estimated water solubility of 2-Methyl-4-(2,2,3-trimethyl-3-cyclopenten-1-yl)but-2-en-1-ol was 16.29 mg/L. Based on the results, it can be concluded that 2-Methyl-4-(2,2,3-trimethyl-3-cyclopenten-1-yl)but-2-en-1-ol is slightly soluble in water.
Surface Tension:
In accordance with column 2 of Annex VII of the REACH regulation, the study need only be conducted if surface activity is a desired property of the chemical. The 2-Buten-1-ol, 2-methyl-4-(2,2,3-trimethyl-3-cyclopenten-1-yl)- (CAS No.28219-60-5) is used as a fragrance agents. For this use, surface activity is not an important property. Hence this study was considered for waiver.
Flash point:
The flash point determination of 2-methyl-4-(2,2,3-trimethyl-3-cyclopenten-1-yl)-2-buten-1-ol (CAS No. 28219-60-5) was done following closed cup method using Pensky-Martens flash point apparatus. The test was conducted in replicates and mean flash point was found to be 99.3°C at 979.1hPa.
pH:
The pH determination of test item 2-methyl-4-(2,2,3-trimethyl-3-cyclopenten-1-yl)-2-buten-1-ol (CAS No 28219-60-5) was done following OECD guideline 122. pH of 1% w/v emulsion was measured with the help of pH meter and it was observed to be 6.38 at 29 °C.
Viscosity:
Kinematic viscosity (experimental) of 2-methyl-4-(2,2,3-trimethyl-3-cyclopenten-1-yl)-2-buten-1-ol ( CAS No.28219-60-5) at 20°C and 40°C is 185.99mm²/sec and 50.63mm²/s,respectively.
Dynamic viscosity (calculated) of 2-methyl-4-(2,2,3-trimethyl-3-cyclopenten-1-yl)-2-buten-1-ol ( CAS No.28219-60-5) at 20°C and 40°C is 170.19mPa.S and 46.33mPa.S, respectively
