Description of key information

FAT 40138 is a yellow powder, solid at 20 °C with a neutral smell. No melting point  could be determined till 350 °C as it started decomposing at about 300 °C. Similarly, no boiling point could not be determined as it started to undergo thermic decomposition at about 300 °C. The average density of FAT 40138 was determined to be 1.5982 g/cm³. The median particle size was determined to be 7.730 μm. A study to determine the vapour pressure is not required, as the melting point of the test substance is above 300 °C. The n-octanol/water partition coefficient was determined to be 0.0002 (log Pow = -3.69). The water solubility at a temperature of 20 °C was determined to be 89 g/l. The surface tension was determined to be 66.982 mN/m at room temperature ca. 20 °C. As FAT 40138 is a solid with a high melting point, the study for flash point is waived. The autoignition temperature was determined to be >550 °C, as no autoignition was observed under test conditions. The test item was considered as not highly flammable. FAT 40138 is considered to be non-explosive and non-oxidising based on the screening evaluation.
