Description of key information

FAT 36152/N is a black coloured, odourless solid powder. Melting range of the test substance according to OECD Guideline 102 was found to be 141 to 167 °C. The test substance FAT 36152/N did not boil until 350 °C when tested according to OECD test guideline 103 for boiling point determination. Average density of FAT 36152/N was found to be 1.2348 g/cm³ at 20 °C temperature, according to OECD guideline 109. A study was performed to determine the particle size of FAT 36152/N according to the procedure designed compatible with the European Commission Technical Guidance Document EUR 20268 ‘Determination of Particle Size Distribution, Fibre Length and Diameter Distribution of chemical substances’ (2002). The results are as follows: Particle size data acquired for the test item is: Percentage of test item with an inhalable particle size <100 µm (Sieve Method) was 6.83 %. The vapor pressure of FAT36152/N has been determined to be 2.7 x 10-6 Pa at 25 °C, according to OECD guideline 104. The partition coefficient n-octanol/water of FAT 36152/N at 20 °C was determined to: Pow = 27478; Log Pow = 4.44. The water solubility of FAT 36152/N at a temperature of 20 °C was determined to be 2.3 µg/l (without correction for the purity). The surface tension of FAT 36152/N was determined to be 73.204 mN/m at room temperature ca 20 °C. Because the test substance is a solid the flash point of FAT 36152/N was not determined. FAT 36152/N showed no auto-ignition until 550 °C and the substance is considered not to be highly flammable and does not ignite spontaneously when in contact with water or humid air. The analysis of the chemical structures of the test substance FAT 36152/N reveals no alerts for explosive properties. The calculated chemical oxygen balance is below the trigger value of -200 and the determination of the exothermic decomposition energy demonstrated no energy release above the critical value of 500 J/g. Therefore, the substance is considered to be non-explosive according to Directive 67/548/EEC and Regulation (EC) 1272/2008 and no further testing is required. Oxidising properties of FAT 36152/N was not determined. In accordance with Column 2 of REACH Annex VII, this study does not need to be conducted as this substance is incapable of reacting exothermically with combustible materials on the basis of its chemical structure.
