Results and discussion

Auto-ignition temperature (liquids / gases)open allclose all
Auto-ignition temperature:
°C
Atm. press.:
ca. 1 atm
Remarks on result:
other: No self-heating of the pure product was detected up to the final temperature of 440 °C. In the temperature range 120 – 170 °C an endothermal effect was observed. After the test the mesh wire basket of the pure product was empty.
Auto-ignition temperature:
>= 160 °C
Atm. press.:
ca. 1 atm
Remarks on result:
other: A self-heating of the substance - diatomite mixture (1:1) was detected at 160 °C. A multistage reaction was observed which led to a maximum product temperature of more than 450 °C. In the temperature range 120 – 160 °C an endothermal effect was observed.
Relative self-ignition temperature (solids)open allclose all
Relative self-ignition temperature:

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
Due to it's auto flammability properties (no self heating below melting point) the tested substance 3-Methyl-1-p-tolyl-5-pyrazolone has not to be classified as self-heating substance according to EC 1272/2008 (CLP Regulation).
