Executive summary:

1,1,3-Trichloroacetone was assessed for its toxic properties in a static acute fish toxicity test. Groups of 10 fish were exposed to the test item up to concentrations of 25 mg/l of Vancouver tap water. Two replicates were used for each concentration. The positive control (sodium pentachlorophenate) showed an LC50 of 96.7 to 104.9 µg/l. The LC50 for the test item is 2.3 mg/l. 1,1,3-Trichloroacetone is toxic for fish under the conditions used.
