Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Isopropyl palmitate was shown to be readily biodegradable with a biodegradation of 91.3% after 28 days (OECD 301B).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Biodegradation in water:
readily biodegradable

Additional information

The ready biodegradability of Isopropyl palmitate was tested in a CO2-evolution test according to OECD 301B and to GLP (King 1993). After 28 days, 91.3% of the initial test substance was degraded. This result is in consistence with all further members of the category for which ready biodegradability was observed.

Based on these findings, the substance Isopropyl Palmitate is considered to be readily biodegradable.
