Description of key information

In accordance with REACH Annex IX column 2, simulation tests of biodegradation in water and sediment are not required because dimethyl terephthalate is readily biodegradable.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Simulation tests of biodegradation in water and sediment are not required because dimethyl terephthalate is readily biodegradable.

In addition, consideration of the use patterns and physico-chemical properties of dimethyl terephthalate indicates no significant potential for exposure of or accumulation in water or sediments.
