Data waiving

Reason: Other justification

Justification: According to Column 2 of REACH Annex X, a carcinogenicity study may be required if the substance has a widespread dispersive use or there is evidence of frequent or long-term human exposure and the substance is classified as mutagen category 3 or there is evidence from the repeated dose study(ies) that the substance is able to induce hyperplasia and/or pre-neoplastic lesions. The inhalation route is the most likely route of exposure for fused tungsten carbide and it is not classified as a mutagen and there was no evidence of hyperplasia and/or pre-neoplastic lesions in a 13-week inhalation study on tungsten carbide nor in a 28-day inhalation toxicity study on tungsten oxide (also known as tungsten blue oxide), which was used for read-across.
