Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Hydrolysis of DEO was examined according to OECD test guideline 111 and GLP.

The preliminary test demonstrated that the test substance rapidly hydrolyses at pH 7 and 9. Only at pH 4 a sufficient recovery was found. Thus, the main test was only performed at pH 4.

The half-life times of hydrolysis of the test substance at 20, 35 and 50°C at buffered solutions of nominal pH 4.0 were estimated (a graphical estimation):

t1/2(20 °C) approx. 1.8 days    t1/2(35 °C) approx. 0.5 day      t1/2(50 °C) approx. 0.2 day

The hydrolysis was considered to be described as pseudo-first order reaction.

Hydrolysis products are monoethyloxalate (initial degradation product), ethanol and oxalate (final degradation product)
