Description of key information
Based on the results obtained from a weight of evidence approach dipotassium persulfate was regarded oxidising.
Key value for chemical safety assessment
- Oxidising properties:
- yes
Additional information
Dipotassium persulfate was not tested for oxidizing properties. A weight of evidence approach based on literature data and one secondary source was applied. The overall conclusion (oxidising solid) is thus regarded as reliable. Dipotassium persulfate was considered oxidising.
Justification for classification or non-classification
Based on the results obtained from a weight of evidence approach as well as on experience in handling and use, dipotassium persulfate was classified with respect to oxidising properties. Taking into account the provisions laid down in Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008, as amended for the fifteenth time in Regulation (EU) 2020/1182, dipotassium persulfate was classified as oxidising solid Cat. 3 (may intensify fire; oxidizer).
