Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Not readily biodegradable: 14% (DOC) in 28 days (OECD 301B)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The ready biodegradability of Dipentaerythrol ester of nC5/iC9 acids was investigated in a CO2 evolution test using activated sludge from a waste water treatment plant treating predominantly domestic sewage (Mead, 2000) according to OECD 301B guideline and GLP. The test substance attained 14% degradation after 28 days and was therefore identified as not readily biodegradable according to OECD criteria. The test was accompanied by a reference control (100% degradation after 28 days) and a toxicity control (41% degradation after 28 days) which confirmed the suitability of the inoculum and test conditions and met the requirements of the guideline.
