Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

PBT assessment: overall result

PBT status:
the substance is not PBT / vPvB
Justification:

Persistance and biodegradation is considered to be neither necessary or relevant for aluminium nitrate. As the substance is inorganic salt it will not be degraded biologically. However, it will dissociate to its constituent aluminium and nitrate ions in the environment. Both ions are ubiquitous in the environment at quantities far greater than that likely to arise from aluminium nitrate. In addiiton, as the substance is an inorganic substance, it is not expected to have a log Kow greater than 4.5.

The substance is not classified as carcinogenic, mutagenic or toxic for reproduction. Neither is there no evidence of chronic toxicity. Aluminium can therefore be regarded as not PBT/vPvB.
