Description of key information

not self-heating, not self-ignitable

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Autoflammability / Self-ignition temperature at 101 325 Pa:
302 °C

Additional information

The substance is a solid with a melting point > 160 °C. Not self-ignitable is also the high water content (ca. 73%) formulation of the substance: in a test according to ASTM E 659-78 (2005), there was no auto-ignition up to 450 °C at 101.5 kPa.

For a chemical safety assessment, the read-across value of 302 °C can be taken from a similar alkyl sulfate: Sulfuric acid, mono-C12-14-alkyl esters, sodium salts (CAS 85586-07-8, guideline VDI 2263), as in this case water was eliminated prior to the experiment.
