Additional information

The hydrolysis was measured in a standard OECD 111 test. The half-life is > 1 year.

The biodegradation of BBSA in water was determined in a 28 day ready-biodegradability test with carbon dioxide evolution (modified Sturm test). The substance was biodegraded for 12-23% after 28d, hence the substance is not considered ready biodegradable.

The biodegradation of BBSA was also determined in a standard simulation test in natural water (OECD 309). The mineralisation rate was negligible. The DT50 values were determied to be 858 days (at 10μg/L) and 985 days (at 95μg/L) in the water phases. Therefore, N-butylbenzenesulphonamide is to be considerd very persistent. Further persistency testing has not been performed.

BBSA has a low log Kow of 2.01, and so a low potential for adsorption to soil and sediment.
