The surface tension of FAT 40840/A TE in water (at a concentration of about 0.1%) was determined to be 66.1 mN/m at 20.2 °C. Based on the criteria as outlined in the EEC Guideline, FAT 40840/A TE is a not surface active substance.
Applicant's summary and conclusion
- Conclusions:
- Based on the criteria as outlined in the EEC Guideline, FAT 40840/A TE is a not surface active
substance. - Executive summary:
This study describes the experimental techniques and results obtained in measurements of the surface tension of aqueous solutions of FAT 40840/A TE. The study was performed in accordance with EU Method A.5 (surface tension) / OEDC Guideline 115 using the ring method.
The surface tension of FAT 40840/A TE in water (at a concentration of about 0.1%) was determined to be 66.1 mN/m at 20.2 °C. Based on the criteria as outlined in the EEC Guideline, FAT 40840/A TE is a not surface active substance. The experiment was performed using a tensiometer Model K8, KRÜSS GmbH, Hamburg, Germany. The measuring body was a platinum-iridium ring with a wire radius of 0.185 mm and a ring radius of 9.545 mm. The sample measurements were performed at 20.2 °C and the calibration measurement was made at 19.9 °C.
