Reference
Endpoint:
stability in organic solvents and identity of relevant degradation products
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
31 August 2016 to 07 December 2016
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
other: Guidance document SANCO/3030/99 rev. 4 (11/07/2000) of the European Commission
Deviations:
no
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Specific details on test material used for the study:
Batch: 491-118-01
Purity: 98.3 %
CIP (test facility) code: 09230
Storage Conditions: refrigerated (< 8 °C), room temperature recommended
Date of Certificate: 15 June 2016
Date of Expiry: 15 June 2019
Supplier: ADAMA Makhteshim Ltd.
Test substance stable:
yes
Transformation products:
no
Conclusions:
The initial values for the storage stability testing at 0 days were between 94 % and 99 % (mean recovery of 5 fold determination). A degradation of the test item during storage at ambient temperature was not observed in 3 different solvents within 3 months. Therefore, Captan can be regarded as stable within 3 months storage at ambient temperature in acetone, acetonitrile and toluene.
Executive summary:

The applicability of the developed method for analysis of Captan in solutions in different organic solvents (acetone, acetonitrile and toluene) was tested. The solutions were analysed using GC with FID.

A degradation of the test item during storage at ambient temperature was not observed within 3 months. Therefore, Captan can be regarded as stable for at least 3 months storage at ambient temperature in acetone, acetonitrile and toluene.

Description of key information

Captan is stable over three months in acetone, acetonitrile and toluene. No degradation products were found.
