First-aid measures

Description of first aid measures
Immediately remove contaminated clothing. If danger of loss of consciousness, place patient in recovery position and transport accordingly. Apply
artificial respiration if necessary. First aid personnel should pay attention to their own safety.
If inhaled:
Keep patient calm, remove to fresh air, seek medical attention.
On skin contact:
Immediately wash thoroughly with soap and water, seek medical attention.
On contact with eyes:
In case of contact with the eyes, rinse immediately for at least 15 minutes with plenty of water. If irritation develops, seek medical attention.
On ingestion:
Rinse mouth immediately and then drink plenty of water, seek medical attention.
Most important symptoms and effects, both acute and delayed
Indication of any immediate medical attention and special treatment needed
Treatment: Treat according to symptoms (decontamination, vital functions), no known specific antidote.

Fire-fighting measures

Extinguishing media
Suitable extinguishing media:
water spray, carbon dioxide, dry powder, foam
Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture
The product is combustible. Do not release chemically contaminated water into drains, soil or surface water. Sufficient measures must be taken to
retain the water used for extinguishing. Dispose of contaminated water and soil according to local regulations.
Advice for fire-fighters
Special protective equipment:
Wear self-contained breathing apparatus and chemical-protective clothing.
Further information:
Dispose of fire debris and contaminated extinguishing water in accordance with official regulations. Collect contaminated extinguishing water
separately, do not allow to reach sewage or effluent systems.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures
Avoid contact with the skin, eyes and clothing. Avoid inhalation.
Environmental precautions
May be harmful to the aquatic environment. Prevent entry into drains and surface waters. Do not allow to enter soil, waterways or waste water
channels.
Methods and material for containment and cleaning up
For large amounts: Pump off product. Pick up with suitable absorbent material (e.g. sand, sawdust, general-purpose binder, kieselguhr). Dispose ofcontaminated material as prescribed.

Handling and storage

Precautions for safe handling
Ensure thorough ventilation of stores and work areas. Avoid contact with the skin, eyes and clothing. Breathing must be protected when large
quantities are decanted without local exhaust ventilation.
Protection against fire and explosion:
Prevent electrostatic charge - sources of ignition should be kept well clear - fire extinguishers should be kept handy. Vapours may form explosive mixture with air.
Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities
Further information on storage conditions: Keep container tightly closed in a cool, well-ventilated place. Protect from direct sunlight. Protect
against heat.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Personal protective equipment
Respiratory protection:
Suitable respiratory protection for lower concentrations or short-term effect: Gas filter for gases/vapours of organic compounds (boiling point <65 °C, f.e. EN 14387 Type AX) Suitable respiratory protection for higher concentrations or long-term effect: Self-contained breathing apparatus.
Hand protection:
Chemical resistant protective gloves (EN 374) Suitable materials also with prolonged, direct contact (Recommended: Protective index 6,
corresponding > 480 minutes of permeation time according to EN 374): fluoroelastomer (FKM) - 0.7 mm coating thickness. Manufacturer's
directions for use should be observed because of great diversity of types.
Supplementary note: The specifications are based on tests, literature data and information of glove manufacturers or are derived from similar
substances by analogy. Due to many conditions (e.g. temperature) it must be considered, that the practical usage of a chemical-protective glove in practice may be much shorter than the permeation time determined through testing.
Eye protection:
Safety glasses with side-shields (frame goggles) (e.g. EN 166)
Body protection:
Body protection must be chosen depending on activity and possible exposure, e.g. apron, protecting boots, chemical-protection suit (according to EN 14605 in case of splashes or EN ISO 13982 in case of dust).
General safety and hygiene measures
Ensure adequate ventilation. Avoid contact with the skin, eyes and clothing. Avoid inhalation of vapour. Wearing of closed work clothing is requiredadditionally to the stated personal protection equipment. Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice. At the end of the
shift the skin should be cleaned and skin-care agents applied.

Stability and reactivity

Reactivity
Vapours may form explosive mixture with air.
Formation of flammable gases:
Remarks: Forms no flammable gases in the presence of water.
Chemical stability
The product is stable if stored and handled as prescribed/indicated. The product is stabilized against spontaneous polymerization prior to
despatch.
Possibility of hazardous reactions
The product/the substance has a tendency towards the formation of peroxide. Vapours may form ignitable mixture with air.
Conditions to avoid
Avoid all sources of ignition: heat, sparks, open flame. Avoid direct sunlight.
Incompatible materials
Substances to avoid:
oxidizing agents
Hazardous decomposition products
No hazardous decomposition products if stored and handled as prescribed/indicated.

Disposal considerations

Waste treatment methods
Incinerate in suitable incineration plant, observing local authority regulations.
Contaminated packaging:
Contaminated packaging should be emptied as far as possible; then it can be passed on for recycling after being thoroughly cleaned.
