Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

First-aid measures:

General: Protection of first-aiders: Put on appropriate personal protective equipment. Move exposed person to fresh air. Remove contaminated clothing and shoes.

Inhalation: Remove to fresh air. Prevent cooling of the person. Keep victim at rest in half-upright position. If not

breathing, give artificial respiration. Get medical attention.

Ingestion: If swallowed, rinse mouth with water (only if the person is conscious). Obtain medical attention if

symptoms occur.

Skin contact: Wash with soap and water. Remove contaminated clothing and shoes. Obtain medical attention if

symptoms occur.

Eye contact: Rinse with plenty of running water. Obtain medical attention if symptoms occur.

First aid facilities: No special recommendations.

Fire-fighting measures

Hazardous thermal decomposition products: In case of fire, may produce hazardous decomposition products such as carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, nitrogen oxides (NO, NO2 etc.), ammonia (NH3), amines, sulphur oxides (SO2, SO3, etc.), hydrogen sulphide, mercaptans.

Special fire-fighting procedures: Fire water contaminated with this material must be contained and prevented from being discharged to any waterway, sewer or drain.

Protection of fire-fighters: Wear suitable protective clothing. Self-contained breathing apparatus.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions: Avoid creating dusty conditions and prevent wind dispersal. Avoid contact with eyes, skin and clothing. Self-contained breathing apparatus. Use suitable protective equipment. Consult expert immediately. Keep away from sources of ignition. Take precautionary measures against static discharges. Use explosion-proof electrical (ventilating, lighting and material handling) equipment.

Environmental precautions: Prevent entry into sewers, basements or confined areas. Dyke if necessary.

Clean-up Methods

Small spill and leak: Vacuum or sweep up material and place in a designated, labelled waste container. Clean up affected area with a large amount of water.

Large spill and leak: Prevent entry into sewers, basements or confined areas. Dyke if necessary. Vacuum or sweep up material and place in a designated, labelled waste container. Recycle, if possible. Prevent formation of dust clouds. Use explosion-proof electrical (ventilating, lighting and material handling) equipment.

Handling and storage

Handling: Preferably use in closed systems. Use with adequate ventilation. Use suitable protective equipment. Avoid contact with eyes, skin, respiratory tract and clothing. Avoid creating dusty conditions and prevent wind dispersal. Use explosion-proof electrical (ventilating, lighting and material handling) equipment. Take measures against static discharge. Keep away from sources of ignition.

Storage: Keep container in a well-ventilated place. Protect from (sun)light. Keep away from moisture.

Packaging materials

Suitable: Polyethylene.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Engineering measures: Use only with adequate ventilation. Local exhaust ventilation should be provided. Use explosionproof electrical (ventilating, lighting and material handling) equipment.

Hygiene measures: When using do not eat, drink or smoke. Wash hands after handling compounds and before eating, smoking and using the lavatory and at the end of the day.

Personal protective equipment - Production scale

Respiratory system: Respirator approved for this type of substance or self-contained breathing apparatus.

Skin and body: Wear suitable protective clothing.

Eyes: Safety glasses with side shields.

Hands: Wear suitable gloves. Recommended material(s):  > 8 hours (breakthrough time): Nitril rubber, butyl rubber, neoprene, Viton, PVC. Replace damaged gloves.

Stability and reactivity

Stability: Stable under recommended storage and handling conditions.

Conditions to avoid: Prevent formation of dust clouds. Exposure to sources of heat, sources of ignition, open flame. Exposure to (sun)light. Exposure to moisture.

Materials to avoid: Oxidizing substances, strong acids, moisture.

Hazardous decomposition products: In case of fire, may produce hazardous decomposition products such as carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, nitrogen oxides (NO, NO2 etc.), ammonia (NH3), amines, sulphur oxides (SO2, SO3, etc.), hydrogen sulphide, mercaptans.

Disposal considerations

Waste must be disposed of in accordance with national and local environmental regulations. Controlled biodegradation in waste water treatment is possible.
