Conclusions:
The IC50 (3 h) of sodium 3(2H-benzotriazol-2-yl)-5-sec-butyl-4-hydroxybenzenesulfonate was > 100 mg/L.
Executive summary:

Toxicity of sodium 3(2H-benzotriazol-2-yl)-5-sec-butyl-4-hydroxybenzenesulfonate on microrganisms was investigated by determing the effects on respiration rate for a period of 30 minutes in an activated sludge respiration inhibition test according to OECD guideline 209. The IC50 (3 h) of test item was > 100 mg/L. Effects noted for the concurrent positive control (3,5 -Dichlorphenol) confirmed the validity and sensitivity of the test.

Description of key information

EC50(3h) > 100 mg/L for respiration inhibition of activated sludge (OECD 209)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Toxicity of sodium 3(2H-benzotriazol-2-yl)-5-sec-butyl-4-hydroxybenzenesulfonate on microrganisms was investigated using an activated sludge respiration inhibition test according to OECD guideline 209. The EC50 (3 h) of test item was > 100 mg/L. Effects noted for the concurrent positive control (3,5 -Dichlorphenol) confirmed the validity and sensitivity of the test.
