The classification given below for this substance is based on the current harmonised classification for boric acid (EC No. 233-139-2) as stated in CLP Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008, Table 3.1 (Index No. 005-007-00-2). The substance hydrolyses rapidly to boric acid and glycerol and therefore it is considered appropriate that classification be based on the hydrolysis products. Boric acid is considered to be the hydrolysis product of concern and therefore classification is based on boric acid, rather than glycerol, which is un-classified.
