Additional information

In the non-GLP Klimisch 2 from study from Voelskow (1989, reported 2008), the respiration inhibition of Depanol I was determined according to OECD 209 and EU method C.11. The test was performed using 4 instead of 5 test concentrations. However, since the respiration inhibitions observed were within 12.7 to 71.2 % of the control inhibitions this deviation is considered minor and having no effect on the validity of the study. The test was performed on two days, first the concentrations of 500 and 1000 mg/L and later the concentrations of 125 and 250 mg/L. All differences between the activities of the four blanks of the two days remained below the limit of 15%, meaning that the data of the two days may be evaluated within the same calculation and hence the data were combined.

The calculated EC50 value was within 453 and 514 mg/L. The EC50 is reported as > 100 to 1000 mg/L. This range can be regarded as conservative concentration range. The test replicates with the reference substance 3,5-Dichlorophenol confirm that the test fulfilled the validity criteria.

This study is considered relevant and reliable for the risk assessment. For the risk assessment, an EC50 of 100 mg/L will used as conservative value.
