Description of key information

In accordance with section 1 of annex XI, no test of flammability is required: Test A.10 is not applicable to a liquid. Based on the known chemical and physical properties of the substance in use, negative results are predicted for the following flammability tests of Commission Directive 92/69/EEC, so it is considered justified to omit them: A.12 (Flammability in contact with water) & A.13 (Pyrophoric properties of solids and liquids)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
highly flammable

Additional information

Flashpoint of tertiary butyl acetate is 277K.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based on the flash point of 4 degrees C and a boiling point of 97.8 degrees C for tertiary butyl acetate, the classification is concluded to be:

- under Regulation 1272/2008 (CLP GHS) criteria, flammable liquid category 2.

- under UN GHS criteria, flammable liquid category 2.
