Preliminary screening test

The preliminary screening test was made to determine if, on ignition by a gas flame, propagation by burning with flame or smoulldering occurs. It was noted whether combustion propagates along 200 mm of the train within the 4 minutes period. The substance was formed into an unbroken strip or powder train about 250 mm long by 20 mm wide by 10 mm high on a non-combustible, non-porous and low-conducting base plate. A hot flame from gas burner (minimum diameter 5 mm, temperature of the flame was about 100 oC) was applied to one end of the train until the train ignites or for maximum of 2 minutes.

Conclusions:
Fe(III)IDHA is not highly flammable in accordance with Test A.10 criteria.
Executive summary:

The preliminary screening test was made to determine if, on ignition by a gas flame, propagation by burning with flame or smoulldering occurs.

During 3 trials the sample did not ignite. Time of applying the flame of burner was: 30, 60, 120 s. Since the result was negative, it was not necesary to go to the next stage of determination.

Fe(III)IDHA is not highly flammable in accordance with Test A.10 criteria.

Description of key information

Additional information

Since the result of preliminary test was negative, it was not necessary to go to the next stage of determination.
