Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Materials and methods

Test guideline
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
other: not specified
Principles of method if other than guideline:
Six ammonia caramels, three double strength and three single strength, each differing in contents of 4-methyl imidazole, were examined in a reproduction study in rats, at dietary levels of 2-15%. Only one litter was reared. Observations were made on the fertility of females, the number of young born per litter, grossly visible abnormalities, mortality, body weights and resorption quotient.
GLP compliance:
not specified
