The parent substance, [2-(perfluorohexyl)ethyl]triethoxysilane hydrolyses moderately rapid in contact with water. However, hydrolysis rates alone cannot be used to conclude that a substance is not persistent in all environmental compartments including soil and sediments since hydrolysis may be slower in these compartments. Therefore, in order to assess the persistence potential of the registration substance in the environment, further generation of data for the soil compartment is considered necessary. The conclusion on persistence or non-persistence would be revisited once experimental evidence is available.

The hydrolysis products do not meet the criteria for PBT therefore emission characterisation is not required.
