Additional information

Skin and eye irritation were examined in rabbits using standard OECD guidelines. In the skin study the substance was placed on the skin for 4 hours with a semi-occlusive patch and then rinsed with warm water. While there was a very slight erythema at 1 our and edema at 2 hours, these were quickly reversible and no other irritation was observed. In the eye study, the test material was placed in the eye of one rabbit and examined for up to 22 days. Irritation was observed in various parameters and the test substance is classified as an eye irritant under DSD and CLP criteria.

Effects on eye irritation: highly irritating

Justification for classification or non-classification

No significant irritation was observed on the skin of rabbits and thus the substance is not classified as a skin irritant. Irritation was observed in tests in which the substance was placed in the eye of one rabbit, with mean scores for the cornea and conunctiva being 3.75 and 1.25/2.25 (A/B), respectively. No score could be determined for the iris as it was not able to be seen until day 5 of the study. Therefore, the substance is classified as an eye irritant under both the DSD and CLP criteria.
