Reference
Name:
Boundary Composition: Vat Black 25
Type of composition:
boundary composition of the substance
State / form:
solid: particulate/powder
Reference substance:
Boundary Composition: Vat Black 25
PBT status:
the substance is not PBT / vPvB
Justification:

Based on the results of QSAR modelling, the main component of the substance is predicted to be not readily biodegradable. Therefore, the substance is potentially P or vP. There are no further data available on degradability therefore it is not possible to draw any conclusions regarding persistence.

A calculated log Kow of 10 or above is taken as an indicator of reduced bioaccumulation. The main component of the substance has a calculated log Kow value of 12.23 therefore the test substance is not predicted to be bioaccumulative. In addition, the substance has a low solubility in n-octanol (< 22 mg/L).Therefore, this is further evidence that the substance is not bioaccumulative.

The substance does not meet the criteria for classification as toxic. It is not carcinogenic, mutagenic or toxic to reproduction. It is not classified as STOT RE 1 or as STOT RE 2. The NOErL value from the alga growth inhibition test is greater than 0.01 mg/L. In conclusion, the substance is not ‘T’.
