The dose produced general anaesthesia in 30minutes. The animal remained in this state until death 24 hours later

Quinoline produces a flaccid state in rabbits but the heart's action is not so irregular. Cardiac activity continues for some time after respiratory cessation and loss of corneal reflex. The bladder urine reduces Fehling's solution. Quinoline by itself does so but the bladder urine was negative to quinoline tests.
