Description of key information

The lowest EC50 on algae is 66 mg/L based on growth rate. The same level of toxicity is seen in freshwater and seawater algae.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for freshwater algae:
66 mg/L
EC50 for marine water algae:
73.7 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for freshwater algae:
30 mg/L

Additional information

Based on a weight of evidence approach made on 4 studies, the ECr50(72 h) varies between 66 and >100 mg/L, no difference is seen between freshwater and marine water algae.

The lowest NOECr obtained in these studies is 30 mg/L.

One study with a validity 4, shows a lowest EC50 (0.26 mg/L) but its validity can not be properly evaluated due to lack of information.
