Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The biodegradation potential of cyclododecanole was tested in the "Closed Bottle Test" according to OECD TG 301 D (Hüls AG, 1994). The oxygen consumption of a mixed bacteria population from the effluent of a STP was monitored over a period of 28 days. Furthermore, cyclododecanole was tested in the "BODIS Test" (BOD of insoluable chemicals) according to the draft ISO guideline 10708 (Hüls AG, 1994).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Biodegradation in water:
readily biodegradable

Additional information

Both in the "Closed Bottle Test" and in the "BODIS Test" the test substance was observed to be readily biodegradable (83% and 88% degradation within 28 days).
