Description of key information

The Reaction mass of cyclododecanol and cyclododecanone is not highly flammable according to the definition in Council Regulation (EC) No 440/2008, method A.10. It is concluded that this applies to pure cyclododecanol as well.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The test material in the key study predominantly consists of cyclododecanol. Auto flammability information from the safety data sheets of the pure constituents shows that cyclododecanol is the less reactive constituent (autoignition temperature approx. 380 °C; cyclododecnone: approx. 230 °C). Therefore increasing the cyclododecanol content at the expense of the cyclododecanone content does not increase the flammability.
