Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The chemical safety assessment according to Annex I of Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 indicates no need for further studies on terrestrial organisms. Thus in accordance with Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006, Annex IX, Column 2, 9.4 further studies on the effects on terrestrial organisms do not have to be conducted. The substance is readily biodegradable and furthermore characterised by a low water solubility and high log Koc. Due to the expected environmental fate of the substance an exposure of terrestrial organisms is considered unlikely. The available long-term toxicity test on

Eisenia fetida demonstrated no detrimental effects on earthworms. The test was conducted n artificial soil according to OECD guideline 222 under GLP conditions. Nominal concentrations of 62.5, 125, 250, 500 and 1000 mg/kg dw were tested. The mortality and growth of adult earthworms was determined after 28 days. Another 28 days later the reproduction rate was assessed. Adverse effects of the substance were not observed and thus a NOEC (56 d) ≥ 1000 mg/kg was determined based on reproduction. Based on the available information toxicity of the substance to terrestrial organisms is not expected.
