Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Significant accumulation in organisms is not to be expected.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

BCF (aquatic species):
3.2 L/kg ww

Additional information

Based on the measured log Kow of 0.83 (BASF AG, 1989; report no. BRU 89.099), no bioaccumulation of cyclopentylamine is expected. In accordance with column 2 of REACH Annex IX, a study does not need to be conducted since the substance has a log Kow less or equal than 3.

The BCF of cyclopentylamine is estimated in a weight-of-evidence approach using different QSAR calculation models (BASF SE, 2012/13): - BCFBAF v3.01 of EPI Suite v4.10 calculated a log BCF of 0.50 (BCF: 3.2 L/kg ww) - US EPA TEST v4.1 estimated a log BCF of 0.35 (BCF: 2.24 L/kg ww) using the consensus method - VEGA Read-across model v1.0.2 predicted a log BCF of 0.29 (BCF: 2 L/kg) - VEGA Meylan model 1.0.2 predicted a log BCF of 0.42 (BCF: 3 L/kg) Since the BCFBAF model estimated the highest BCF value of 3.2, signficant accumulation in organisms is not to be expected.
