Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Following an analogue read-across approach the log Pow was determined to be 0.18.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Log Kow (Log Pow):
0.18

Additional information

The test item is a mixture of methanol and methyl acetate. No study was available for the water solubility of the mixture, but for the single components methanol and methyl acetate. Therefore, an analogue read-across approach was used.

The log Pow of methanol was determined to be -0.77.

The log Pow of methyl acetate was determined to be 0.18.

Both values are taken from peer reviewed handbooks or publications and so can be considered as reliable. Based on an analogue read-across approach the highest log Pow of the two components was regarded as worst case. Consequently, a log Pow of 0.18 was chosen as key value for further chemical safety assessment purposes.
