The substance showed a first exothermic reaction at an oven temperature of approx. 80°C. However, this reaction did not result in a sample temperature of/above 400°C.
Testing for GHS classification:
The substance was tested according to UN-Recommendations "Transport of Dangerous Goods", BAM Amts- und Mitteilungsblatt Bd. 17 Nr. 4 Dez. 1987, Handbook of Testing and Criteria, Class 4.2, tests for "self-heating substances":
the test was positive in a 2,5 cm cubus. The substance "Sodium ethylate" has to be classified as "self-heating", category 1.
