Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

No tests with terrestrial organisms are available for the category members of the Long Chain Alcohol Esters. But due to their properties a hazard to soil organisms is assumed to be low. As the category members of the Long Chain Alcohol Esters are readily biodegradable and are not directly applied to soil it is assumed that they will not enter the terrestrial environment and therefore there is no need for testing of terrestrial organisms (Guidance on information requirements and chemical safety assessment, R.7c, pg. 109, ECHA 2008). Data from studies with aquatic organisms resulted in no toxicity in the range of water solubility (algae, daphnia and fish). Moreover, chronic and acute studies for mammals resulted in no toxic effects as well. Considering that the category members are readily biodegradable and therefore an indirect application to soil via sludge and even a direct application by reason of the identified uses can be ruled out, no terrestrial toxicity data should be generated.
