Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

A NOEC of ≥ 1 mg/L (nominal) was determined in a study with Daphnia magna with the analogue substance 2-ethylhexyl oleate (CAS: 26399-02-0). No effects were observed below the limit of water solubility.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Kuech (1995) investigated the effects of the analogue substance 2-ethylhexyl oleate (CAS: 26399-02-0) to the freshwater invertebrate Daphnia magna. The study was performed according to OECD guideline 202, part 2. Nominal test concentrations applied were 1 and 100 mg/L. For both, measured concentrations were < 0.01 mg/L. Effects to Daphnia magna were only observed after 21 days with 90% mortality in the highest test concentration of 100 mg/L. Since measured concentrations were the same for the 1 and 100 mg/L concentrations effects were considered to be due to contamination of the test substance and the NOEC determined to be ≥ 1 mg/L (nominal). No effects below the limit of water solubility were observed. Based on the results and considering the analogue approach it can be concluded, that the category members of the Long Chain Alcohol Esters produce no long-term effects to aquatic invertebrates.
