Justification for classification or non-classification

The substance is being registered at supply level of 1-10 tons per annum and as such only data specified in Annex VII is required to be provided in support of this registration. Whilst no further data are available to the registrant, industry accepts that certain Dibutyltin salts are classified as R48/25. As such, as a precautionary measure, the registrant proposes to classify the substance as R48/25 according to Directive 67/548/EEC. According to Regulation (EC) no 1272/2008 the test substance would be classified as a STOT Rep. Exp. 1 with Hazard statement: H372: Causes damage to organs through prolonged or repeated exposure and should be accompanied with the signal word 'Danger'.
