A complex combination of hydrocarbons obtained by treating a petroleum fraction with hydrogen in the presence of a catalyst. It consists of hydrocarbons having carbon numbers predominantly in the range of C6 through C13 and boiling in the range of approximately 65°C to 230°C (149°F to 446°F).
Single values for the category or individual UVCB members are not applicable. The values for the category generally range from < 0°C to < 55°C. Indicative flash point values for gasoline (motor and aviation gasoline) are < -40°C as determined by the closed cup method.
The flash point of < -40°C (motor and aviation gasoline) was obtained from the CONCAWE 1992 product dossier. Additionally, the CONCAWE Category Justification Document states that the flash point for substances that comprise the gasoline naphthas category ranges from <0°C to <55°C. The method used for measurement of the flash point is EN ISO 13736.
