Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Principles of method if other than guideline:
Test guideline (if other than guideline, describe principles of method used):
Du Noüy Ring Tensiometer : This type of tensiometer uses a platinum ring which is submersed in a liquid. As the ring is pulled out of the liquid, the tension required is precisely measured in order to determine the surface tension of the liquid.
The Du Noüy Ring is a body of measure in platinum-iridium alloy for the determination of the superficial or interfacial tension from the maximal strength being exerted on the ring by using a tensiometer with ring or blade.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
The interfacial tension has been determined by a double measure (made twice) of the surface tension between a aqueous solution (1% m/m) of the product and sunflower oil, at 20°C.
Executive summary:

Because of their tackiness, the test materials were, beforehand, put in the air oven to melt.

Some of the aqueous solutions formed an emulsion and were left in the air oven to stabilize.

The interfacial tension has been determined by a double measure (made twice) of the surface tension between a aqueous solution (1% m/m) of the product and sunflower oil, at 20°C.
