Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The particle size of the material is larger than that considered respirable.

Additional information

Shape factor analysis was undertaken with dimethyl isophalate flakes as manufactured. Most (95%) of the flakes do not pass through a 20 mesh sieve, and the average particle area is 5 mm2 with a Feret diameter (length of the longest dimension) of 1.85 mm (1850 micrometers) and aspect ratio of 1.49. Of the minor portion (5%) which passes through the 20 mesh sieve, the average area was 0.0085 mm2, with an average Feret diameter of 0.09 mm and aspect ratio of 1.65. The conclusion is that these particles are not considered respirable (under 15 micrometers in one diameter).
