Method

Species / strainopen allclose all
Species / strain / cell type:
S. typhimurium TA 1535, TA 1537, TA 98 and TA 100
Species / strain / cell type:
S. typhimurium TA 1538
Species / strain / cell type:
E. coli WP2 uvr A
Metabolic activation:
with and without
Metabolic activation system:
S-9 mix
Test concentrations with justification for top dose:
0.05, 0.1, 0.5, 1, 5, 10 µg/L
Significant antimicrobial activity was observed at 5000 μg/disc, the highest concentration of the Standards. At 10 μg/disc, however, no antimicrobial activity was exhibited. Based on the above, the present study was conducted at 6 concentration levels with the highest concentration of 10 μg/plate.
Vehicle / solvent:
- Vehicle used: DMSO
- Justification for choice of solvent/vehicle: The sample was insoluble in water. Because it was soluble in dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO), DMSO was used as the solvent.
