Description of key information

Effect concentration based on growth rateof the structurally related substance Ethylenediamine, propoxylated (NLP#3, CAS 25214-63-5) at 72 h were: EC50=150.67, LOEC:=8.76 and NOEC: 4.25 mg/l. Analytical verfication ranged from 76.9 to 130% and from 60.7 to 94% of nominal values, at 0 and 72 hours, respectively.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for freshwater algae:
150.67 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for freshwater algae:
4.25 mg/L

Additional information

The toxicity, as measured by biomass and growth rate, to Desmodesmus subspicatus was evaluated in freshwater. Under the conditions of the study, the structurally related substance ethylenediamine, propoxylated caused growth rate inhibition in the algal cultures, with EC50 (72 h) of 150.67, and NOEC (72 h) of 4.25 mg/l.

Data on Ethylenediamine, ethoxylated and propoxylated:

Toxicity to algae and cyanobacteria has been tested with Desmodesmus subspicatus over a 72 hr period at 100 mg/l following the OECD guideline 201. No effects were observed and the NOEC and the EC50 (biomass and growth rate) are >100 mg/l.
