Guidance on Safe Use
Administrative data
First-aid measures
Inhalation: In case of irritation of the respiratory system or mucous membranes, seek medical attention. Move to fresh air. Seek medical attention if you feel unwell or if exposure prolonged.
Skin contact: Remove contaminated clothing. Wash affected skin with soap and plenty of water. If skin irritation or dermatitis commences or persists seek medical attention.
Eye contact: Rinse immediately with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. Remove contact lenses if present and easy to do – continue rinsing. Seek medical attention.
Ingestion: In case of spontaneous vomiting be sure that vomitus can freely drain due to danger of suffocation. Rinse mouth and then drink plenty of water. Induce vomiting (only first-aid staff) if person is conscious. Seek medical attention. Check breathing and pulse. Place victim in the recovery position, cover and keep warm. Loosen tight clothing such as a collar, tie, belt or waistband. Seek medical attention.
Advice for the doctor: Symptomatic treatment
Fire-fighting measures
Fire extinguishing agents: Water spray, foam, powder, carbon dioxide
Restrictions: None
Fire/explosion hazard: None
Main combustion gas: Carbon oxides
Personal protection: Self contained breathing apparatus.
Accidental release measures
Personal protection: Goggles, gloves, protective clothing.
Environmental precautions: Prevent entry into surface waters
Spillage procedure: Contain with suitable absorbent material. Scoop into marked containers for disposal. Flush small residues away with water.
Handling and storage
Handling
Occupational hygiene: Avoid ingestion, inhalation, skin and eye contact. Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene practice and any legal requirements.
Technical protective measures: Ensure adequate ventilation, especially in confined areas. Maintain air concentrations below occupational exposure standards.
Storage
Fire precautions: Keep away from heat and sources of ignition.
Storage facilities: Store in a cool, dry area with adequate ventilation. Protect from direct sunlight, extreme cold and hot.
Segregation: No special precautions.
Storage conditions: Keep containers closed.

Exposure controls / personal protection
EXPOSURE LIMIT VALUES
Components with occupational exposure limits: None
No exposure limit values have been established for this product, it is advisable not to exceed the following generic exposure limits on the basis of 8 hours:
- Inhalable dust: 10 mg/m3
- Respirable dust: 5 mg/m3
OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE CONTROLS
Appropriate engineering controls: Maintain air concentrations below occupational exposure standards. Prevent dust formation.
General Personal Protection: Goggles, gloves, protective clothing.
Respiratory protection: Breathing apparatus with filter required if occupational exposure limits may be exceeded.
Hand protection: Protective gloves.
Eye protection: Tightly fitting safety goggles
Skin and body protection: Protective clothing.
Stability and reactivity
Conditions to avoid: None
Materials to avoid: None
Hazardous decomposition products: None under normal storage conditions
Disposal considerations
Disposal/recovery must be made through authorized companies only.
Small quantities can be washed away with water and conveyed to the treatment plant. Diluted wastewater will not cause damage to the biological treatment.
For larger amounts it is recommended the neutralization of tartaric acid solutions with calcium carbonate or calcium hydroxide and the recovery of calcium tartrate formed, insoluble in water, for delivery to the authorized disposal/recovery.
Wash thoroughly empty containers, preferably with water, prior to initiating recycling, incineration or landfilling. The washing water must be treated as the previous point.
Do not discharge product uncontrolled into the environment and make reference to applicable regulations.
