Description of key information

Henry’s Law Constant = 0.33 Pa-m³/mole (HENRYWIN, v. 3.10)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The distribution of dimethyl phosphonate between aqueous solutions and air was calculated. Using the Bond Method a Henry’s law constant (HLC) of 0.33 Pa-m3/mol was estimated (Bayer AG, 2003). This result indicates that the compound has a moderate volatility according to the criteria of Thomas (1990). The volatility of the main degradation product monomethyl phosphonate is lower. With the bond estimation method a HLC of 0.001 Pa-m3/mol was calculated (Lanxess, 2010).
