Additional information

The key study for biodegradation is a GLP, 301D guideline study. The results of the key and supporting studies both indicate that propane-2 -thiol is not biodegradable. QSARs have been used to predict that the substance will not bioaccumulate or adsorb to suspended solids and sediments as the predicted Kow is <3.

The results indicate that propane-2 -thiol will persist in the environment as it is not biodegradable, though it is not predicted to bioaccumulate or adsorb to suspended solids and sediments.

The physico-chemical properties of propane-2 -thiol indicate that this substance will volatilise rapidly into the atmosphere, where it wil be reacted with a half-life of 0.25 days.
